Ingredients

  • 2 cups strawberries, halved
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 2 cups seedless grapes, halved
  • 2 cups cubed watermelon
  • 2 cups cubed cantaloupe
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 cup sliced kiwi
  • 1/4 cup honey drizzle
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt dip
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt for drizzling
  • Wooden or metal skewers (10-inch)

Method

  1. Rinse all your fruit and pat completely dry with paper towels (this matters more than you'd think). Cut strawberries in half lengthwise, keeping stems attached for a prettier presentation. Halve your grapes, cube the watermelon and cantaloupe into bite-sized pieces, and slice kiwi into half-moons. Dry fruit prevents soggy skewers that'll sit in the hot sun all afternoon.
  2. Grab your wooden or metal skewers and start threading fruit on in a red-white-blue pattern. I start with a strawberry halves facing out for maximum color impact. Add blueberries next, then white grapes, then watermelon, then cantaloupe, then pineapple, and finish with another strawberry.
  3. Don't cram the fruit too tightly or it bruises easily. Leave tiny gaps between each piece so the skewer shows through, which looks more intentional and professional. I usually fit about 8-10 pieces per skewer depending on size.
  4. Arrange finished skewers on a large serving platter in rows, making sure the red, white, and blue pattern is visible from above. You want these patriotic fruit skewers crowd to photograph beautifully because trust me, people will pull out their phones.
  5. Mix your plain Greek yogurt with honey drizzle, lemon zest, and chopped fresh mint to create a dipping sauce. Stir until smooth and creamy, then transfer to a small bowl centered on your platter. The vanilla yogurt option works too if you prefer something sweeter and less tangy.
  6. Drizzle a tiny bit of honey directly over the skewers for that glistening effect. Not too much or they'll get sticky and gross, but just enough to catch light and look appetizing. I'm serious about the "tiny bit" — one teaspoon per skewer maximum.
  7. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate until serving time (up to 6 hours works great). Keep the dip separate until the last minute so it doesn't get watery and gross. Pull them out about 15 minutes before guests arrive so they're cool but not ice-cold.
